HTS Nic Diederichs Technical High School soccer players recently competed in the West Rand District Selections at Carlton Jones High School in Carletonville.

Several talented players were selected following their performances, and aims to put the West Rand on the map with their soccer talent.

The players across many age groups will be in the Gauteng West squads heading to the Provincial Soccer Games taking place in August.

According to the school’s sports co-ordinator, Gift Seziba, Gauteng hosts several major provincial school soccer programmes, including the Super Soccer Schools Provincial Qualifiers, the Gauteng Schools Wednesday Champions League (supported by SAFA), and the Future Champions Gauteng Schools Cup. These competitions act as critical pipelines for youth talent identification and provincial glory.

The provincial soccer games feature the best high school teams and professional academy U17 sides competing for the opportunity to represent the province. Co-hosted by the Departments of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation and Education, the league runs in bi-weekly rounds across all Gauteng corridors to promote talent development.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work, discipline, and talent. There is no doubt that the boys will put the school on the map, and we wish them all the best,” Seziba said.
