Cyclists ride for mental wellness at Bell of Hope event

The annual Bell of Hope Charity Ride for Mental Wellness attracted hundreds of cyclists as riders united to support the Ebenezer Psychiatric Home.

The Bell of Hope Charity Ride for Mental Wellness was recently held in the Cradle of Humankind.

The event was hosted by the Ebenezer Psychiatric Home, and according to director Charmaine Hennings, it aimed to raise funds to help sustain and maintain the home.

The day attracted 300 cyclists and featured both a 50km and a 15km cycle ride. Participants also received goodie bags containing useful items such as a panic pack, water bottle and tickets to a show at the Barnyard Theatre.

Charmaine said there was no single highlight of the day because every part of the event was enjoyable, although the goodie bags and prizes stood out the most.

“We will continue hosting the charity ride every year because it is a successful event and helps educate the public about mental illness. It is difficult to predict factors such as attendance, weather, special occasions like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, or other events taking place on the same weekend. Despite this, we still had a very good turnout, and we hope the event will continue to grow each year and attract even more cyclists,” she concluded.
