Summit's rising gymnasts deliver in Centurion
Thirty-four Summit gymnasts earned Gauteng colours, with several athletes claiming top honours in their age categories at the province's premier competition for their levels.
Gymnasts from the Summit Gymnastics Club returned with an impressive medal haul from the Gauteng Festival, where they showcased their talent.
The competition took place from June 12 to 15 at the National Training Centre in Centurion.
According to club owner Lauren Perry, 36 gymnasts competed in the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics category across Levels 1 to 3. Of those athletes, 34 earned Gauteng colours.

The gymnasts competed on vault, bars, beam and floor. Perry said 24 gymnasts finished in the gold category, nine in the silver and three in the bronze.
“This was one of our best achievements at the Gauteng Festival to date, especially if you look at how many of our gymnasts competed,” said Perry.
She added that the Gauteng Festival is the highest level of competition available to gymnasts in their respective age groups and levels. The club has already begun preparing for next year’s events.

Perry also highlighted the club’s top achievers:
• Level 1 – Maeson Buckley Farinha was the overall champion in her age category and recorded the highest scores on bars (9.3) and beam (9.1)
