Curro coach and learner reach new heights in rugby

Neo Mabela is a talented learner from Curro who was selected to play in the Rhino Rugby tournament, while coach Willem Swanepoel is there as a mentor and guide.

Curro Krugersdorp High School is proud to announce the participation of both a talented rugby player and a distinguished coach at this year’s highly anticipated Rhino Week Tournament which is taking place in Vanderbijlpark from June 27 to July 1. The event showcases the best of South African school rugby.

Grade 12 learner Neo Mabela has been selected to represent the renowned Lynx Rugby Team. The youngster’s exceptional skills and dedication have earned him the opportunity to compete among the most talented young rugby players in the nation. Seeing that Neo is the only player of Curro’s sevens first team to be selected for the tournament is a testament to his remarkable potential.

The school also takes great pride in the appointment of coach Willem Swanepoel who will guide and mentor the immensely talented U19 Lynx team during the tournament. Willem’s exceptional coaching abilities and deep understanding of the game have been recognised by the team, who handpicked him for this esteemed role.

The team is an invitation-only side consisting of players from independent and non-independent schools in Johannesburg and the West Rand area and recognised the remarkable home-grown talent at Curro Krugersdorp High School. This prestigious selection serves as a testament to the school’s commitment to excellence in both sportsmanship and coaching.
