Her impressive medal haul has secured her a spot at the national junior level, marking a major step forward in her swimming career.

Alma Mater International School learner Jessica Caldeira recently competed at the Swimming South Africa Regional Level 3 Championships, delivering an exceptional performance while representing her school.

According to Alma Mater’s head of sports Thapelo Wolf, Jessica earned an impressive three gold and two silver medals, showcasing her dedication, talent and relentless work ethic.

He added that it features age groups from 11 to 16 and requires specific qualification times on the national database. A full programme includes freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly over various distances, with no qualifying times needed for 50m events, provided the swimmer has qualified in at least one other event.

As a result of her outstanding performance, Wolf said she has also qualified for the South African National Junior level – a remarkable milestone just one step below senior national Olympic qualification.

“This is a top-tier swimming competition for junior swimmers in South Africa, typically for age groups ranging from 12 to 19 years. Jessica’s hard work continues to inspire. Her future is incredibly bright,” Wolf concluded.
