Free basic services available: Indigent registration opens in Kagiso

Residents who meet the qualifying criteria are encouraged to complete their indigent registration before June 12.

The municipality’s indigent management unit will conduct ward-based registration from June 10 to 12, between 09:00 and 14:00.

Refilwe Mahlangu, the municipality’s assistant manager for media and PR, said the registration is for Ward 8 in Kagiso and aims to assist qualifying residents in accessing free basic services.

The registration will take place at the Ward 8 Office at Ebenezer.

She added that residents will need to bring the following documents when registering:

• Proof of income, including the latest three months’ bank statements, or an affidavit if unemployed
• SASSA confirmation letter (if receiving social grants)
• Certified copies of identity documents for yourself, your spouse, and dependents
• Latest municipal account and prepaid electricity meter number
• Proof of marital status (marriage certificate, divorce decree, proof of customary union, or death certificate)
• Letter of authority or executorship (if the property and municipal account are not in your name)
