THE Plasies took part in the National Arbor week and planted no less than 30 wild mango trees, Cordyla Africana on their extensive school grounds.

This tree is a strong grower and will soon provide welcome shade against the summer sun.

All the learners, deputy principals, office staff and the EC assisted with this meaningful task.

After the tree planting ceremony, individual classes participated in a well planned eco-treasure hunt. Other exciting activities of the week included the identification and marking of trees around the school, a short hike on the farm and assisting in the upgrading of the recycling centre.

One of the activities receiving enthusiastic attention was the building of Merensky’s first worm farm where the worms, Eisenia fetida, will be used to make valuable compost at the recycling centre.
