Search for murder suspect

The Police in Giyani have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly killed his 47-year-old wife at Maswanganyi village on Monday, November 21.

It is alleged that the woman was home watching a soccer match with the suspect and her brother-in-law. “After the match, her brother-in-law left the house, and later on, their 17-year-old son allegedly heard his mother frantically screaming for help in her bedroom. He allegedly ran outside to seek help, and on returning found his mother lying in a pool of blood.

The police and the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned to the scene and she was certified dead upon their arrival. The motive for the murder is unknown, but domestic violence cannot be ruled out. “The deceased was identified as Nelly Nhunhu Mabasa,” said Const Ridgewell Rikhotso of Giyani SAPS. Anyone with information that can lead to the apprehension of the suspect is urged to contact the investigating officer, WO Muxe Minyuku on 082 729 0327 or the crime stop number 08600 10111 or the nearest police or the My SAPSApp. The police investigation is ongoing.
