Mr Dynamix celebrates 45th year camping

Adventure and fitness enthusiast, Nyiko Masango, also known as ‘Mr. Dynamix’ celebrated his 45th birthday in the great outdoors with 30 other outdoor junkies.

His birthday celebration was titled ‘The 45 Birthday Weekend Legend 4.5’. The occasion transpired at Koro Koro Lodge in Bela Bela, from Friday, October 21-23. The group spent the weekend hiking, walking, cycling, camping, and doing all sorts of different outdoor activities. Masango, born and bred in Nkowankowa outside Tzaneen, told the Herald that he specifically chose to celebrate his birthday camping because he enjoys simple things in life.

“At this age my perspective of life is peace. Anything that contradicts peace in my life whether it is friendships, relationships and businesses, I can’t be part of it. My outlook on life at this age is positive. I have learned throughout my life that no matter how bad your situation is, the sun will rise again and when it rises it means you can still try again,” he said. Masango also said one of the reasons he loves camping is that it introduces people to a whole different life.

“People sleep on a sleeping bag on the ground, with no electricity, but water is available. It takes people out of their comfort zone, but also affords them the opportunity to unwind from their busy lives,“ he added. Masango is well known for doing extreme activities which have included, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in 12 hours, cycling from Tzaneen to Tanzania, and cycling from Beit Bridge to Cape Town to name a few.

He is hosting another camping adventure in Qwa-Qwa in the Free State soon. The site is situated a kilometre away from the Lesotho border, where the group of camping enthusiasts will enjoy outdoor activities between the two countries.
