Runners take over Marula Marathon

The PMC Marula Family Half-marathon and 10km road race and 5km fun run took place on Saturday with hundreds of runners participating.

The race started at PMC Mine and finished at Impala Park Stadium. In the 21.1km Joel Mmone took first place in the open category, completing the race in 1:04:29. Reghen Magwai took second place in the open category with a time of 1:05:21 Godknows Sipanela took third place crossing the finish line with 1:06:09 on the clock.

In the women’s division Nobukhosi Tshuma took first place in the open category winning the
21.1km race in a time of 1:19:41. Rudo Mhonderwa took second place with a time of 1:23:18 and
Kataza Shipalana took third place with a time of 1:24:22. In the 10km road race the top three spots were hotly contested. Kabelo Seboko took first place in the men’s division with a time of 29:28 and Nicholas Seoposengwe took second place with a time of 31:26.

Chris Mhlanga took third place with 31:35 on the clock. Karabo Mailula was the first female to cross the finish line in the 10km race. She ran the route in 36:41. Farida Zwane took second place crossing the finish line in 38:04 and Kebogile Motshabi took third place completing the 10km in 39:24.
The race was attended by runners from all over the country including the MEC for Health Dr Popi Ramathuba, who also ran the 21.1km. The 5km fun race was mostly ran by children and their parents.

Thapelo ‘Tips’ Motimele led the an aerobics session after the races, keeping everyone entertained.
PMC’s Abby Ledwaba concluded by thanking all stakeholders and participants for making the event a
success.
