Ockert Maritz is champ of Wik’s Stanfordian race

Stanford Lake College hosted the Wik Memorial Triathlon in a rainy and misty Magoebaskloof on Sunday with Ockert Maritz taking first place in the Stanfordian.

The conditions led to wet mountain bike tracks and muddy trails for the runners. The swimming leg of the triathlon had to be shortened due to bad visibility in the mist.

Maritz completed the ‘swim, fin, and grin’ at a pace of 16.59km/h and won the race with a time of 2:06:35. Taryn-Maie Kuhn took second place overall in the Stanfordian, winning the women’s division with a time of 02:28:33.
