Charity Dodgeball Tournament raises R4328 for conservation

The annual Charity Dodgeball Tournament hosted on Saturday, April 13, raised R4328 for the Scales Conservation Fund.

Hosted to benefit the Scales Conservation Fund and its beneficiaries, the event proved to be a resounding success, raising an impressive amount towards wildlife conservation efforts. “With a record-breaking turnout of 14 teams, including local businesses such as Leopardo Electrical, Buck n Berg Restaurant, Provet, PostNet, Campfire Academy, and Alliance Fruit, the tournament showcased the spirit of unity and generosity within the community,” said Amy AucampClark of Scales Conservation Fund.

Participants of all ages, ranging from 8 to 63 years old, joined forces to dodge, duck, dip, and dive their way through the playoffs, vying for victory in the knockout rounds. Amidst the palpable excitement and cheers from spectators, it was the Campfire Staff team that emerged triumphant, clinching victory over the formidable Seagulls in the final.

‘Leopardo Electrical Team 3 secured a commendable third place, while the Leopardo Kids triumphed in the u/16 category, showcasing exceptional talent and sportsmanship. “The success of the event would not have been possible without the dedication of referees and volunteers, whose invaluable contributions ensured smooth proceedings throughout the tournament,” she added.

She thanked Hoedspruit Sports Academy Action Sports for providing the venue and The Thirsty Giraffe for their support. “As the final whistle blew, marking the end of an exhilarating day filled with friendly competition and goodwill, participants and spectators alike departed with hearts full of joy, knowing that their efforts had made a meaningful impact in support of wildlife conservation,” concluded Aucamp-Clark.
