Cycle through conservation areas at Munnik Meerkat MTB Challenge

The Munnik Meerkat MTB Challenge is set to take place on April 20.

The race is a favourite on the local cycling calendar and is presented by the Munnik Farmers’ Association. Riders can look forward to a 70km marathon starting at 07:00. The 50km race will start at 07:30 and the 35km halfmarathon will start at 07:45.

The 15km fun ride will start at 08:00. Entries range between R280 for the 70km race and R100 for the 15km race. E-bikes are welcome for the 35km ride. The routes meander through conservation areas and plains with small game and buffalo that roam in the Munnik area.

The 35km route starts in Munnik and meanders past Mahuto Lodge, Reed Dam, Mooiplaas Lodge, Kleinbegin, and Knott’s Dam before ending at Munnik again.

The 75km race continues from Mooiplaas Lodge out of the Mooiplaas gate and takes a detour to Aloe Hill and the Kadi Dam before continuing to Reed Dam and Drongo’s Drop before the finish line in Munnik.
