Gravelotte learner selected for Limpopo netball team

Nyiko Baloyi is set to represent the province at the u/12 netball nationals and is looking for support to help her do just that!

LIMPOPO – Gravelotte Primary School is rallying behind one of its brightest young talents, Nyiko Baloyi, who has been selected to represent Limpopo in the u/12 netball national tournament taking place in Gauteng from Saturday, June 28 to Wednesday, July 2.

As excitement builds, the school and her family are appealing to the public and local businesses to support Baloyi’s journey through sponsorship.

Baloyi, a Gr 6 learner with an impressive passion for the sport, was selected by Limpopo Schools Netball as one of 20 players who will represent the province at the prestigious tournament hosted at EG Jansen and Concordia in Gauteng.

Her journey to join the provincial team was no small feat. The selection process began at the cluster level in Mariepskop, followed by district trials held at Dr Annecke. She then advanced to the final round at Pietersburg Hoërskool in Polokwane on Thursday, May 8, where she impressed selectors and earned her place among the top 20 young netball players in the province.

Baloyi’s passion for netball runs deep. She began playing mini netball at the u/7 level and has consistently shown focus, commitment, and natural talent.

Her coach, Ayonda Ceko, who began mentoring the team in March this year, expressed her pride and excitement.

“I am very happy about her being selected as one of the representatives of the Limpopo netball team. She is a hard worker and always eager to learn something new. I am extremely proud of her,” said Ceko.

Her mother, Hilda Baloyi, also expressed her joy and gratitude. “We are proud of our daughter and thankful to coach Ayonda for the support and training. Nyiko has worked very hard for this moment, and we thank God. We believe she will represent us well in Gauteng and make us proud again,” she said.

Anyone who wishes to support this young star in her journey to Gauteng can contact coach Ayonda Ceko at 064 987 3658.
