Tzaneen judokas win gold at national championships

Tzaneen judokas shine at the South African National Judo Championships, winning three gold medals against 1 800 competitors.

TZANEEN – Tzaneen judokas returned home triumphant after claiming three gold medals at the South African National Judo Championships, held at the University of Pretoria.

Ken de Lange competed in the boys’ u/60kg category, representing Joburg Judo individually and Cape Town Judo in the team event. Dorothy de Lange represented Joburg Judo in the girls’ u/63kg category and helped the Joburg girls’ team secure first place. Geetika Elayidatu won gold in the girls’ u/33kg category, while Mia Zeni claimed first in the girls’ u/30kg division.

The championship attracted around 1 800 participants, making the achievements even more remarkable. Sensai Ivan James Steyn, head of Jukado Judo Club, where all four judokas train, congratulated his team for their outstanding performance and said it was a valuable experience for everyone involved.
