Sanders takes podium spots

Professional cyclist, Samantha Sanders is on form taking second place in the Ride Joburg (the former 94.7) 50km mountain bike race over the weekend.

She won the women’s veteran division and Sanders completed the route in 2:03:57, less than four minutes behind the winner, Candice Lill. This race included a 900m elevation gain.

Last weekend Sanders took first place on the podium in the Alzu Tour de Farm mountain bike race in Middelburg. She completed this 70km MTB race in 2:23:40.73 taking first place in the women’s division and 23rd place overall cycling at a pace of 29.2km/h.

She also took on the Wines2Whales race in Grabouw in the Western Cape from October 27 to October 29 with Riaan Weideman and the team took fourth place in the mixed category, just missing out on a podium spot in this prestigious race.

They held third place in the mixed category after the first stage but dropped to fourth place after the second stage. Sanders and Weideman cycled for team Toyota Gazoo and completed the race in 8:47:14, taking 60th place overall.
