Emanuel in run for title

Emanuel FC kept their ABC Motsepe League title challenge alive with a 3-0 victory over Monaca FC in a league match played at Malamulele Stadium on Saturday.

Emanuel took the lead within a few minutes of the first half after a cross-shot into the posts went past the goalkeeper and met another player who chipped it into the net. To even the score, the visiting team put in even more effort, hoping to breach Emanuel’s defence. However, the strategy was not as simple as it seemed because the Emanuel boys were also pressing for additional goals to extend their lead rather than playing defence.

It did not take long before Emanuel scored two more goals within a minute or two to make it 3-0 and completely ruin whatever chance the visiting team had to equalise in the first half. By the time the referee blew the whistle to announce the end of the first half, the visiting team looked overwhelmed with no hope of catching up. When they returned for the second half, however, they were determined to turn the tables at all costs.

They were seen breaking through Emanuel’s defence trying to find the net several times, but their goalkeeper stopped them. The Emanuels also missed several goal shots at the post while trying to push back, they were fortunate to avoid conceding any goals since they were playing a defence game throughout the second half. Fortunately for them, the match ended leading 3-0 against the visiting team.

Depending on how the other teams play their fourth round games, Emanuel can climb up to position one in the league, according to the current ABC Motsepe League log. Before the Saturday match, Emanuel was in third place with seven points from three games. With seven points from three games, the Vondwe Xi Bullets lead in first place at the moment. The Mpheni Home Defenders are second with seven points from three games. This implies that Emanuel will climb the rankings to the top if any of these two clubs draw or lose their fourth round games.
