Letaba Rugby Club run riot against UniLim in dominant win

While the first team dominated, the second team faced a tougher outing in their fixture.

TZANEEN – Letaba Rugby Club delivered a brilliant performance against the University of Limpopo (UniLim) over the weekend, running riot in a one-sided clash that ended prematurely with Letaba firmly in control.

Explosive start sets the tone

Travelling to the University of Limpopo with determination and confidence, Letaba came out firing from the opening whistle.

The visitors wasted no time asserting their dominance, crossing the try line within the first minute of the match to set the tone for what would become a relentless attacking display.

Relentless attacking display

Playing attractive, high-tempo rugby despite the chilly winter conditions, Letaba overwhelmed their hosts with wave after wave of attacking play.

Their clinical finishing and disciplined structure proved too much for UniLim to handle as the visitors continually breached the defence throughout the afternoon.

By the time the match was halted in the 67th minute, Letaba had already amassed an incredible 94-0 lead, having scored 14 tries and coming within touching distance of reaching the century mark.

The game was stopped before the full 80 minutes could be completed, bringing an end to a dominant performance from the visitors.

Mixed fortunes for Letaba’s second team

In the second-team fixture, Letaba 2 endured a more difficult outing, falling 30-12 to UniLim 2. That match was also stopped in the 65th minute. Despite the defeat, Letaba’s second side showed determination and fought hard throughout the encounter.

Focus shifts to Phalaborwa clash

Letaba will face Phalaborwa Rugby Club on Saturday, June 15 at Letaba Park. Letaba 2 will play PRC 3 at 15:00 and the first team clash starts at 15:30.
