Khushi, a Protea in the making

She was recently included in Cricket South Africa’s High Performance Group.

In the third and final girls cricket league match against Southern Cross on Saturday, the girls first cricket team of Merensky High School took a stand.

They defeated their opponents on their home ground with a staggering 202 runs.

Merensky set a target of 285 runs, whereby Southern Cross replied with only 83 runs all out. The star of the show was Merensky’s Khushi Mistry, a Grade 10 learner. Apart from taking five wickets, she also scored 177 runs off only 113 balls, which is the highest batting total in Merensky’s cricket history.

This was an exemplary performance by the all rounder who also plays for the Limpopo senior women’s team.

She was recently included in Cricket South Africa’s High Performance Group.
