Married to one of the Springboks’ fastest players, chartered accountant Layla Kolbe is a powerhouse of beauty and brains.
Add to that her great relaxed fashion sense and you have a WAG (wives and girlfriends of high-profile sportsmen and women) who ticks all the right boxes.
Perfect match for Springboks wing Cheslin Kolbe
She has been married to Cheslin Kolbe for over five years and the mother of three is frequently seen posting with her adorable children and supporting her husband on and off the field.
In a beautifully emotional post to her husband in support of the current 2023 Rugby World Cup, she wrote:
“Can’t wait to hold that trophy with you, even more, special with our complete family. TYJ 🙏🏽
“May God bless you, protect you, and keep you, and may His favor and grace be upon you always 🙏🏽
“Safe travels and here’s to finishing our time in France with the biggest victory of them all, IJN!”
Love at first sight
Speaking to weddingetc.co.za, Cheslin said it was love at first sight when they met in 2013:
“We had played a Currie Cup game against the Xerox Golden Lions, and after the match I noticed a beautiful girl in a red hoodie coming down Boundary Road outside DHL Newlands stadium,” Chelsin said.
“She stopped me and Kurt Coleman because her friend wanted to take a photo with us…and I have been in love with her ever since.”
Cheslin tracked her down on Twitter (now X) and asked her out.
Cheslin Kolbe scored big time with winning proposal
After three years of dating, the South African wing pulled out all the stops when he proposed to her in 2016 after his team, the Stomers, won a Boland Cavaliers game at the stadium where they first met.
A group of cheerleaders welcomed Layla onto the field where Cheslin went down on his knees to propose with a ring and roses in front of a cheering crowd.
The couple’s equally romantic wedding in 2018 was featured on the now-defunct luxury lifestyle TV show Top Billing.

The blushing bride
Layla recently shared a photo from her wedding ceremony at Webersburg Estate, in the Stellenbosch Winelands.
Her wedding gown deserves an honorable fashionable mention.
The blushing bride wore a white embroidered and beaded creation designed by Robyn Roberts.
The sheer upper body of the dress was decorated with hand-beaded flowers and sported a low back. A tulle train at the bottom added an edgy touch.
“I wanted a local designer to design my dress for me, something elegant and sophisticated, but a bit edgy,” Layla explained on Top Billing.
She came across the designer’s page on Instagram and immediately knew that this was what she wanted.
The couple gets to boast that they had Springboks captain Siya Kolisi as a groomsman and his wife Rachel as a bridesmaid. Talk about rugby royalty!

Family glow
One thing that can be said about Layla is that she carries the most beautiful pregnancy glow.
In a post she shared on Instagram, her husband – nicknamed the Lightning Bug for his speed – takes some time to slow down with the love of his life for a photo shoot in a field of sunflowers.

The well-styled couple wears matching khaki-and-white outfits with Cheslin in a white linen shirt and khaki shorts while Lalya wears a long striped dress showing off her baby bump.
Their eldest daughter, Kylah, who is child model and has appeared in Woolworths campaigns, joins them in another photo in a charming yellow dress.
Green and gold
Layla shows us that you can support the Boks in many ways by standing out in a green dress, black Gucci belt and gold GG while adding black stockings and boots.
The best part of this outfit is that it displays her patriotic support for her husband and the squad.
