Check your tickets! The search is on for South Africa’s newest millionaires after two lucky players bagged the Powerball and PowerBall Plus jackpots.

Two new millionaires
According to lottery operator Ithuba, the “first big winner for the festive season” – the person who won R100 million – played a manual selection on a R7.50 ticket.
The ticket was purchased in Margate, KwaZulu-Natal, so if that rings a bell, we suggest getting in touch with Ithuba as soon as possible.
The second lucky winner bagged the guaranteed PowerBall Plus Jackpot of R50 million with a ticket purchased in Groblersdal, Limpopo, playing the quick pick selection, with a wager of R45.
Winning jackpot numbers
The winning numbers for PowerBall are 8, 9, 36, 42, 50, and bonus PowerBall 04.
For PowerBall Plus, the numbers are 29, 32, 33, 45, 47, and bonus PowerBall 15.
Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza called on all players “to check their tickets to see if they are one of the two multi-millionaires and get in touch” with the lottery operator.
“Ithuba takes winners from ordinary, into being extraordinary. Visit one of our eight offices in the country as soon as possible to claim [your] winnings”.

Free counselling
It’s quite a shock becoming a millionaire overnight and Mabuza said players who win R50 000 or more will receive trauma counselling and financial advisory services at no cost to them.
In most cases, lottery winners squander their newfound fortune in record time, while many others are duped into dubious investment schemes or fall victim to the family and friends’ trap.
Ithuba’s winner services department, therefore, offers free financial advice and trauma counselling to assist winners with “digesting the news and enjoying every step of this life-changing experience”.
Trauma counselling will be followed by extensive financial advice to assist the winner with their financial planning.
