Update: Scooters attack

All five men who allegedly took part in the robbery and beating of Scooters deliveryman, Mr Robbie Msimango, have been arrested and detained.

Liebman Snoer (19), Jean Snoer (19), Leonard Kruger (19), Jonatan Swart (22) and Jason Gumley (18), were all arrested on suspicion of their involvement with the brutal assault and robbery.

They have appeared in court on Friday, following the arrest of Liebman Snoer, by Guardian Protection Services, last Thursday afternoon.

He was taken into custody and questioned, which led to the other arrests.

The group of men are alleged to have submitted a fraudulent pizza order for five large pizzas, delivered to Helen Joseph Street 106, around 21:50, two Fridays ago.

When Mr Msimango pulled up with the order, a group of men emerged from an undeveloped stand next door.

The five men pulled Mr Msimango from his scooter, and started assaulting him with a stick, their fists and feet, after which they stole the five pizzas, together with R800 of Mr Msimango’s taking for the day.

His scooter was also badly damaged in the attack.

Bail was denied for all five during their appearance for assault to do grievous bodily harm and common robbery.

They will appear in court again on December 2, when they will formally apply for bail.
