Break-in foiled by SAPS

An employee of Kentucky Fried Chicken was arrested on Monday morning during an attempt to break into the fast food store on the corner of Walter Sisulu and SADC Street.

Police, busy with a special patrol, saw three men on the premises of KFC around 02:00.

The police members did not want to rise suspicion, and the officers decided to drive around the block.

Upon their return, they found that two of the men had fled, but a third was still on the premises.

The police pounced and found that the man had already succeeded in opening a door to the outlet.

He had a grinder and pliers in his possession.

Police also found a bunch of keys on him, and established during questioning, that the keys belonged to KFC.

The SAPS did not want to divulge more information regarding the investigation, but say more arrests could follow.

The man was arrested and charged with attempted break-in, possession of housebreaking equipment and possession of suspected stolen property pertaining to the bunch of keys.

Godright Stefaan Makgoro appeared in court on the above charges on Monday.
