Breaking news: Suspect in bestiality case
The suspect who was arrested for bestiality is not 17, but in fact 20 years old!
This just came to light in the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court after the suspect, Tshepo Utla, appeared in court minutes ago.
The state confirmed that they just received his birth certificate from Home Affairs, which stated that he is in fact 20 years old!
Utla told police on Saturday that he is 17 years old when he was arrested at Doornkop.
The suspect was arrested under the Animal Protection Act for bestiality and torturing of an animal after a four month old puppy was found dead at a house.
According to police community members contacted them after they found a man asleep next to a dead dog. The man still had a condom pulled over his penis.
A veterinarian did a postmortem on the dog.
Bail was denied and the case postponed to 1 February for a formal bail application.
