Lekota to visit town

The President of the Congress of the People (COPE), Mr Mosioua “Terror” Lekota will visit Middelburg this Friday, 2 May 2014 on a COPE election trail.

While here he will address the unemployed at the Eric Jiyane Hall at Mhluzi at 15:30.

Thereafter he will proceed to Newtown where he will conduct a door-to-door visit and also speak to the community briefly at 17:00.

Mr Lekota will then go to the Eastdene Community Hall where he will address business people, professionals and religious leaders on COPE’s economic and social policies towards a better South Africa.

In a statement released by local COPE Councillor Ben Mokoena, a invitation was extended to “the various sectors of the Middelburg community mentioned above”.

Cllr Mokoena urged all residents to come out in their numbers “to listen to this outstanding stalwart of the liberation struggle, a man who spent the greater part of his youth an adult life fighting the course of the most down-trodden sectors of our people.”

For more information Cllr Mokoena can be contacted at 082 350 3574.
