Video: From soldier to car guard and internet sensation
The video of a car guard singing and playing a piano at the Middelburg Mall, went viral the past weekend, getting over fourteen thousand hits.

The story of his life is just as fascinating as his ability to bring the ebony and ivory alive.
The car guard, Mr Muvunyi Pablo, is from the eastern regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
He started playing the guitar, piano and other African instruments such as the Marimba and Banjo, at Sunday School at the tender age of 15. It took him ten years to master the instruments.
During those 10 years a civil war broke out in the DRC, and Mr Pablo, like many other boys, was forced to take up arms.
He managed to escape to Rwanda, and there he met a man who saw his musical talent and took him in.
The man who became his manager, travelled with him through out sub Saharan Africa, where he performed in many gigs.
“We went to Botswana, Namibia, Uganda, Malawi and many other countries, he promised to give me 70% of what we made at the performances,” said Pablo.
Pablo and his manager finally ended up in Johannesburg, where the man was supposed to give him his share of the money.
“He left me in a hotel with R1000 and said he was quickly going to the bank, and that was the last I saw of him. After three days I had to leave the hotel and wander the streets of Johannesburg. I then met up with other Congolese immigrants, and they helped me find my feet,” he added.
“They took me to Home Affairs in Pretoria where I fixed my documents, I later heard of a car guard opportunity in Middelburg at the mall’s phase two, and headed that way. Everyone welcomed me and taught me to be a good car guard, and respect customers,” Pablo says.
He stunned mall visitors this weekend when he took a seat behind a piano and his fingers started dancing across the keys. Someone videotaped the performance and set the internet on fire.
He is performing at the Dorp van die Jaar Makietie on the 25 September at the Kees Taljaard Stadium.
“I believe that many bookings will follow, but my car guard position is what presently keeps the pot boiling, and for that I’ll always be thankful,” he said.
