Update: Another scandal rocks Middelburg SAPS
Another scandal has engulfed the Middelburg SAPS last week, when thieves gained access to the SAP 13 camp, and ransacked almost all the vehicles stored in the camp.
The scandal comes on the back of a photo released to the Middelburg Observer, of four police members sleeping on duty in the radio control room of the police station.
According to a source, the cars were targeted a mere day after the police members were sleeping on duty, leaving the charge office unmanned.
The SAPS is currently investigating its members for taking the scandalous photo of sleeping police officers slumped in chairs and draped over a computer.
The Observer has learnt that the top brass believes a white police officer to be the mole who leaked the photo, which has sparked national media attention.

The SAP 13 camp is situated in the backyard of the police station, and is secured with barbed wire. It is unknown how the thieves gained entry.
According to a reliable source, almost all the cars in the camp had been ransacked. Car radios, spare tires, car jacks, batteries and engine parts were targeted.
Stolen vehicles and vehicles used in crimes, are stored in the camp alongside motorcycles and trailers.
W/o Lize de Witt confirmed the incident and said that a single theft out of motor vehicle case had been opened.
W/o De Witt however admitted, “that a number of vehicles had been broken into”.
