Litter out of hand
On the corner of SADC Street and Lillian Ngoyi Street lies piles and piles of empty boxes, dirty plastic bags and cold drink cans.
This scene is at the corner of one of the most busiest streets of Middelburg- the building that suffers the most of this litter would be the Oak Centre, where shops such as Clicks and Woolworths are.
The litter, has been present as far back as October last year.
Employees at the centre believe that the litter initially started as a result of digging for the installation of new cables.
Now the site has become a dumping place for everyone, with the smell, heavy as ever in the building. The recent rain has only served to make the scene even filthier- spreading the smell and mixing up dirt with mud.
Although the shopkeepers and employees have contacted and complained to the Municipality in order to clean the area up, they have been faced with silence as nothing has been done about the litter while the pile of dirt grows taller.
