Video: No classes for Grade R’s
While many Grade R's were taken into their classrooms for the first time in Middelburg, it was quite the contrary for pupils of Karnalieland, Tiny Bubbles and Thusanag Stimulation Centre in Nasaret.

A verbal war between the SGB Chairperson and Educators sparked on Wednesday morning when the SGB of the school refused to re-open doors for the children.
“My heart pains as I see small children being deprived of education. We have been begging to be given more time because we also have children with disabilities,” asserted Ms Johanna Mitchel, Principal of Thusanag Stimulation Centre.
In video footage on www.mobserver.co.za Mr Brown of the SGB, says that the building was pronounced as an unsafe structure by the Department of Social Services.
“Inspectors came and our school was put on priority hence the school is being rebuilt. The municipality also provided us with a letter to vacate the pre-schoolers due to the same reason in 2014. We had four meetings with the pre-schools to explain to them but they don’t seem to understand,” added Mr Brown.
Ms Mitchel discards notion that the municipality gave the SGB of the school a letter of evacuation.
“We went to the municipality on Wednesday afternoon and the Acting Municipal Manager, Mr Mandla Mnguni, told us that no such letter was issued to the SGB. They gave the premises to education. We only had one meeting with the SGB and they told us to evacuate the building but we were not given any notice, ” she said
By the of time print the acting Municipal Manager, Mr Mnguni was not available for comment.
