The house on the corner of Klip- and SADC Street has a label attached to it. One that Karabo Mashiloane is working very hard to remove.

Trouble at the infamous house, started when the previous owner, Anton Meyer, leased the house to Caroline Grobler, who initially claimed that she put students in the house.

During the end of 2014 until mid 2015, the circle where Klip- and SADC Streets cross was a hot spot for buying sex and residents in the area were haunted by scantily clad women blocking the street, flashing their private parts to passers by and wild parties at the brothel that carried on through the night.

Known Nigerian drug dealer, Jude Obiano, also known as Kenny occupied a piece of the property to do his business from.

The brothel was closed down when Fofo Security stormed the house and forced all sex workers and clients out into the street in July 2015. Obiano stayed on a while longer but also eventually left. Rumour has it that he has since relocated to Lydenburg.

The new owner, Mr Mashiloane, took ownership of the house shortly thereafter.

Mr Mashiloane applied for the house to be rezoned from Residential 1, a family residence, to Residential 3, a boarding or guest house. He vowed to change the reputation of the house for the better and that no prostitute will ever set foot there again.

Whilst renovating the ravaged house, he put a couple of people in the house as caretakers. But what he did not know was when he left for his home in Johannesburg, the party continued. This time minus the sex workers.

A distraught neighbour sent a video of the chaos that happened last Sunday night, to the Middelburg Observer.

Mr Mashiloane himself heard of the mayhem happening on his property and drove to Middelburg on Wednesday to personally address the situation.

He says that the trouble makers are not living in the house, but come there for a party. He is adamant that it is not prostitutes responsible for the noise but rather rowdy party-goers.

“Someone phoned me and I could barely hear them with all the noise the bikes were making in the background. I will definitely put an end to it.”

Mr Mashiloane says that he has forbidden the people staying in the house from receiving any visitors on his property from now on. He also plans to appoint security guards to make sure that order is kept.

He has invited all his neighbours to contact the Middelburg Observer to obtain his telephone number if they want to report problems or noise on his property.

San- Mari Wait, D.A. Councillor for the Middelburg CBD, said that not only the noise but also the state of the yard is a concern. Mrs Wait is in possession of photos that show a trash piled up against one of the boundary walls. The stench is unbearable and poses a health threat, she claims.

Mrs Wait said that she plans to raise the issue during a planned meeting at the municipality next week.
