Video: Nasaret United Reformed Church Brigade March
The Nasaret United Reformed Church Brigade is a marching band that aims to uplift children spiritually, physically and socially.
The URC Brigade had a march on Sunday through Nasaret and were introduced to the community and URC church.
Nasaret community members stood outside their gates early Sunday morning to watch the passing band.
“I woke up with a bang this morning” Miss Purdy Herbst said when she called the Middelburg Observer, very excited to find out what is happening.
The community watched with excitement as the Brigade marched through the street in their khaki uniforms, blowing their horns and playing their drums.
The URC Brigade was a familiar face years ago. In September 2015 they decided to start practicing and performing again.
On 1 November 2015 they had their first march. Sunday’s march was their second since the new group has started practicing together.
“The Brigade is for everyone. We have kids from the age of five.
No one is too young or too old,” says Mr Johannes Silas.
This march is the first of many planned for the year and the URC invites community members to come and join them for practice on Thursdays from 17:30 until 18:30.They have upcoming region parades, choir competitions and sporting events and urge parents to send their children to come and join.
