On ‘TRAC’ for this Festive Season
With traffic on the N4 Toll Route expected to increase in December 2016 and January 2017, as the concessionaire of this road, Trans African Concessions (TRAC) has been working hard in preparation for this bustling period.

The Festive Season is traditionally one of the busiest times of the year on South African roads, including the N4 toll road.
During this period thousands of motorists travel between Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Mozambique and it is imperative for TRAC to implement effective road safety measures.
This will be done during the TRAC N4 December Campaign, which officially starts on 15 December and ends on 8 January.
Road safety on the N4 Toll Route will be the focus of this campaign, as will quick response time to incidents and accidents by TRAC’s 24-hour Roadside Assistance teams, as well as state and private emergency services.
The 15th and 23rd of December have been identified as the possible busiest days on the N4 Toll Road this Festive Season and therefore on these days TRAC will hold activations at Alzu Petroport in Middelburg. Both activations will see a large contingency of emergency services, including the TRAC Helpdesk and TRAC Roadside Assistance units, stationed at this popular rest stop from 10:00 to 22:00.
In the event of an incident or accident all the services stationed at the petroport will be dispatched simultaneously, thus decreasing response time to emergencies. The participating emergency services will include ambulances, paramedics, Fire and Rescue, Provincial Traffic and pathology units.
Smaller response units will also be stationed at strategic points on the route – namely Bronkhorstspruit, Middelburg, Milly’s and Mbombela (Nelspruit) – in an effort to further enhance incident/accident response.
The campaign will also be in full swing across the border – in Mozambique – where emergency services and TracAssist will be stationed at the Pessene Load Control Centre on both days.
The TRAC N4 December Campaign will be led by the TRAC Helpdesk. This 24-hour, emergency call centre is usually the first to be alerted of incidents on the road and therefore plays a vital role in this initiative.
TRAC Helpdesk agents will be on duty throughout the campaign to notify and call-out emergency service teams from the central dispatch areas and to keep motorists, media and all relevant parties up to speed on the situation off, and on, the road.
During both activations at Alzu the TRAC Helpdesk will also hand out promotional items which focus on road safety and the route.
As heavy traffic is again expected en route to the Lebombo Border Post in Komatipoort, TRAC will also work hand-in-hand with the Lebombo Border Control Operational Coordinating Committee (BCOCC) and help with traffic management measures.
This is in a bid to prevent major delays and disruptions on the N4 toll road and at the border itself. TRAC will assist through the provision of several logistical requirements and by issuing traffic control information flyers to motorists.
“The safety and well-being of the users of the N4 Toll Route is TRAC’s primary concern and we urge everyone using our beautiful road this holiday season to make full use of this initiative by calling the TRAC Helpdesk on 0800 87 22 64 for quick, effective assistance to any problem.
We further encourage road users to stay up to date with what is happening on the road throughout the Festive Season by following us on Twitter @TRACN4route or visiting the website at www.tracn4.co.za”.
