Sex, drugs and booze at school – Hillside investigation ongoing

The Mpumalanga Department of Education confirmed on Monday that the investigation into a number of serious allegations leveled against Hillside Private School, remains ongoing.

The Middelburg Observer and www.mobserver.co.za reported in August 2016 on a number of very disturbing allegations against the private school.

A former teacher, Mr Johan Duvenhage,  said children had filmed themselves having sex to sell the videos for cash.

Mr Duvenhage alleged that drug abuse is rife within the school and that teachers weren’t being paid regularly.

“Children fight over chairs which has to be moved from one class to the other due to a shortage,” Mr Duvenhage said.

He also said that boxes filled with used sanitary pads were placed in open spaces.

Mr Duvenhage petitioned both the provincial and national education departments to investigate the allegations.

“I can confirm that the allegations are being taken very seriously and the investigation into them, and other serious allegations, remain open,” Mr Jasper Zwane told www.mobserver.co.za
