Police warns: ‘Think twice before you hitchhike’ after men spotted dumping victim

Several instances where people have been drugged have been reported.

The Provincial Commissioner of the police in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma has warned against hitchhiking.

This after a number of incidents where hitchhikers were found drugged and dumped along the different roads in the province were reported.

In the most recent incident, two men were potted carrying a seemingly lifeless body out of their vehicle and dumping him in a plantation near Sudwala, on Saturday 9 December.

The two men were stopped by police, who took them back to the place their victim was dumped. The victim was found to be drugged and robbed of his belongings.

His belongings were found in the vehicle the two men were stopped in.

The suspects, aged 63 and 70, appeared in court yesterday and again today, 12 December.

Their names have not yet been made public.
