NOT FOR SENSITIVE VIEWERS: Newborn baby found on rubbish dump

The body of a newborn baby was found on a rubbish dump outside of Marble Hall.

According to Life 24 Ambulance Services, a municipal worker stumbled upon the baby’s corpse in a plastic bag and took them to the scene.

The baby was dead upon their arrival.Ms Mercia Blake (Life 24) stated that the baby was likely aborted eight months into the pregnancy.

She also stated that it is a common occurrence in the area for mothers, who do not want their children, to take medication and use all other kinds of methods to induce labour prematurely, in an attempt to get rid of their babies. Ms Blake suspects that the mother had a normal birth and that the baby was still alive when wrapped into a plastic bag and suffocated.

The baby’s gender has not been made known, as the Police is still investigating.

Lt. Col. Moatshe Ngoepe, Provincial Police Spokesperson, states that they have opened a docket of inquest but that the mother of the baby has not been located yet.

•The Police is in need of the community’s assistance to track down the mother of the baby and ask for anyone with any information, to come forward and report it at the Marble Hall Police Station.
