Man arrested after a scandalous murder at the railway line
The Middelburg Police have arrested a man in connection with the discovery of a 25-year-old man's body.
Alight Khoza was found near the railway line behind the old Belfast road.
Mr Khoza was allegedly shot and died shortly after engaging in a sexual act with a sex worker last Wednesday, his pants were pulled down upon discovery.
Sifiso Mahlangu (30) reportedly tried to rob Mr Khoza and the two men got into an altercation that led to Mr Khoza’s death.
The sex worker contacted the last dialled number on the deceased’s phone and told the person on the other line what had happened and where it had occurred.
The sex worker then said that Mr Mahlangu assaulted her before taking Mr Khoza’s cellphone from her.
The Middelburg Police spokesperson, Captain Khanyisile Zwane, said the police initially arrested the sex worker and Mr Mahlangu on Thursday, however, the sex worker was not formally charged.
Mr Mahlangu was in possession of the deceased’s cellphone.
The suspect appeared before the Middelburg Magistrates Court and will make his second appearance for a formal bail application.
