Gale-force winds that struck Middelburg this morning caused significant damage to political parties’ election posters across the town.

Posters featuring DA leader Geordin Hill-Lewis were torn from lamp posts, while the large images of President Cyril Ramaphosa smiling from poles along Walter Sisulu Street were blown completely askew.

Cold spell brings rain

The chilly weather sent residents rushing to liquor stores for a bit of ‘antifreeze’, while fireplaces were lit.

He received numerous awards, is a founding member of the Forum for Community Newspapers and has published two books about his work. Although retired, Tobie is still very much involved in community journalism.
