Fake notes in Belfast leads to two arrests
Two men were arrested at a pub in Belfast after allegedly being in possession of a large number of fake R100 notes.
According to Sgt. KC McDonald, Belfast police spokesperson, the men, aged 27 and 29, tried to pay for their bill at the Belfast Lion Grill and Pub with three R100 bills.
The management of the pub became suspicious of the notes and called the police.
Sgt. McDonald said that police investigated and found suspected counterfeit money in the men’s possession, leading to their arrest.
She said that the men has been charged with being in possession of counterfeit money and have already appeared in court.
A message on social media claimed that the men had fake notes to the value of R10 000 in their possession.
