Accident claims baby then mother
An accident that caused the death of a three-month-old baby has claimed its second life, two days after it occurred.
Mapule Phia Rasemane (38) and her baby son Kamogelo were underway from Gauteng to Mpumalanga when she lost control of her Volkswagen Polo just after the Arnot off-ramp last week Wednesday.
The car crashed through a water channel and rolled. Young Kamogalo was declared dead on the scene whilst his mother had to be cut out of the wreck and was rushed to hospital. She regained consciousness shortly after being freed from the wreckage by emergency workers.

According to information, Ms Rasemane was transferred from the Middelburg Hospital to the Witbank Hospital, where she was to undergo an operation. On Friday the family was informed, however, that she too had passed away.
Both mother and child will be laid to rest this weekend in Tzaneen.
• Another woman lost her life on the N4 on Monday morning. It is suspected that she lost control of her Toyota Etios, crashed through a barrier and went over a bridge between the Samora Machel and Hendrina off-ramps on the N4. Her vehicle crashed against a wall on the opposite side of the bridge before landing on its roof.
