Severe damages at Gholfsig substation leaves residents without power

Middelburg experienced a total blackout as firefighters doused the flames after an electrical fire broke out at the Gholfsig substation late yesterday afternoon.

After technicians assessed the damages, electricity could be restored in most parts of Middelburg, with the exception of Gholfsig, Mhluzi, Clubville and Aerorand.
The residents of the above mentioned areas have been without power since, while technicians are hard at work trying to restore the substation.

According to information supplied by emergency Whatsapp groups, the substation has been severely damaged and residents can expect to be without electricity until tonight 20:00.

Residents are asked to remain patient as technicians are working around the clock to have electricity restored to these areas.
