Hand amputated in N4 accident

Four people were injured, two of which were left in critical condition, after an accident on the N4 yesterday evening.

The accident occurred just before the Arnot off-ramp at around 18:00 when the wheel of the vehicle they were travelling in came off and the double cab bakkie, overloaded with produce, veered into oncoming traffic.

The vehicle which was traveling in the direction of Nelspruit, had five occupants in it and had rolled during the incident. No other vehicles were involved.

According to first respondents, one of the occupants suffered an amputation of their hand. One of the lanes had to be closed as emergency response personnel cleared the scene.
