Middelburg dam sluices will be opened as dam level increases

The Middelburg Dam's sluice gates will be opened yet again, after the water level was lowered during a three day long purge of the dam.

Mr David Nonyana, overseer at Middelburg Dam has announced that a dam level reading of 96.2% was measured and that the level keeps rising with a strong intake.
The sluice gates will be opened today (Tuesday) at 18:00 and residents are warned to avoid the banks of the Klein Olifants River as water levels are expected to rise.

Middelburg has experienced a healthy level of rainfall throughout the week resulting in certain areas experiencing mild flooding.

A video was circulated of the Amora Bird Park in Gholfsig where water flushed through the park during Monday’s rainfall.
