Premier honours top Mpumalanga student at MHS

Greta Kurpershoek received a car as reward for achieving the top spot in Mpumalanga in the 2019 Grade 12 exams.

Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtshweni and MEC for Education Bonakele Majuba were amongst a large group of dignitaries who visited Hoërskool Middelburg on Wednesday.

The guest of honor was the young Ms Kurpershoek, who was applauded for her achievement.

In her speech, Premier Mtshweni cautioned against gender based violence, teenage pregnancy and the use of drugs.

School headmaster, Johan Stronkhorst, said that the Steve Tshwete Municipality is one of the best municipalities in the country, making it easier for Hoërskool Middelburg to be seen as one of the best schools.

Amidst great excitement, the young Ms Kurpershoek was handed the keys to a brand new Toyota Aygo.
