Residents warned of spike in house burglaries
Residents have been warned that there has been a spike in house burglaries after ten homes have been broken into during the week.
Media spokesperson for the SAPS, Captain Khanyisile Zwane, has confirmed multiple break-ins in certain areas after five burglaries were reported in Aerorand, three in Kanonkop and two in the Dennesig area.
According to Captain Zwane, homes are being targeted throughout the day and the SAPS is patrolling through the streets in an attempt to curb the influx of crime.
There has also been a recent spike in theft of motor vehicles, as well as the theft of tyres in Hlalamnandi, Rockdale and Extension 24.
The SAPS wants to warn residents in these areas against parking vehicles outside during the night after several incidents have been reported where vehicles were found perched on bricks with the wheels stolen from the vehicles.
