Protests in Mhluzi flare up

Despite the efforts by Public Order Policing units to stifle the violent protest action in Mhluzi, the unrest has flared up once again.

Mhluzi residents have blockaded roads and imposed threats on motorists since yesterday morning, after facing day 14 without water.

Executive Mayor, Bagudi Tolo, made an appearance before a disgruntled mob yesterday in Tokologo, where he addressed their questions and explained the reasons behind the lengthy water interruptions.

More reports of protest action circulated in the early hours of the morning but the situation was again stabilized by police.

Reports of a flare up in protest action in Extension 5 has been confirmed and motorists are urged to avoid the area.

Police are at the scene.
