Gunshots ring out in early Sunday liquor store robbery
Robber fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, contained in tow Fidelity cash bags, after firing several shots at Ultra Liquors on Sunday morning.
The armed robbery took place around 11:15.
According to police two Fidelity guards went to Ultra Liquors to collect cash.
One of the two guards went inside to collect the two cash bags and while leaving the store, he was confronted by an armed man who ordered him to go to the toilets, after stealing the cash.
Inside the toilet the guard heard a number of gunshots being fired.
The driver of the Fidelity van attempted to crash into the robber’s silver BMW getaway car, but before he could ram into the vehicle, gunshots were being fired at him by another robber.
The BMW fled in the direction of the Sasol Garage in Meyer Street.
No arrests have been made.
