Violent protest action flares up on N11

Protest action over service delivery continues to flare up at the Doornkop settlement along the N11 (Loskop).

Doornkop residents have been barricading the N11 since Tuesday morning and riots have continued throughout the night.

It could be confirmed that several motorists were violently attacked throughout the night, after a truck was burned down, one vehicle was shot at and another attacked with petrol bombs.

According to Middelburg CPF chairperson, Rahana Pilodia, police are currently at the scene and the road is open.

While the police continues to monitor the situation, motorists are urged to avoid the route as far as possible as flare ups in violence continue to break out.
