N4 westbound closed after multi-collision

The N4 westbound lanes just after the Bethal off-ramp have been closed after a multi-vehicle collision claimed one life.

The accident took place at around 20:30, involving two trucks carrying full loads and a Nissan Almera.

According to the driver of one of the trucks, the accident occurred after he struck a stationary truck believed to have been involved in an accident with the Nissan.

The driver explained that he was being overtaken and could not swerve out of the way of the stationary truck, which did not have lights on.

The road was scattered with broken bottles of alcohol, yogurt and debris and a clean-up of the scene has commenced.

According to information, one person was killed in the collision.
