Official provincial statistics confirm first Covid-19 death

One Covid-19 related death has been recorded for the Steve Tshwete Municipal area according to statistics released minutes ago.

The statistics for 30 June, made public on the Mpumalanga Department of Health’s Facebook page just before 12:00 today (2 July), reveals that one person has passed away due to Covid-19. It is unclear who the person is and what the circumstances around the death is.

Statistics also show that positive cases in the STLM area have increased with 19 from 30 June to 1 July.

• Some local residents were convinced that a person buried over the weekend was Middelburg’s first Covid-19 fatality.
