Traffic ground to a halt as emergency personal cleared the scene.

According to eye witnesses, the accident unfolded after a Toyota Auris overtook traffic. The driver saw an oncoming Tata bakkie and tried to swerve out, but was struck on the side by the oncoming bakkie.

It was reliably learned at the scene, that the two occupants of the Toyota, a mother and her young daughter, were killed upon impact.

The family traveling in the bakkie, which included a baby, fortunately survived the accident.
